Quantum Heat Pump Hot Water Review

Tim's Quantum Review

I recommend avoiding Quantum heat pumps. They have the worst reviews and there are better heat pump hot water units that are more affordable.

Cost: Quantum heat pumps are priced at mid-market

Reliability: The reviews are close to the worst on market, suggesting that the units are not reliable

Refrigerant: Quantum units use propane, which is one of the best refrigerants on the market

Maintenance: Requirements are vague and not clear

Heat Pump Compare offers expert and independent reviews of heat pump hot water units.

Quantum has a range of heat pumps, differing by tank size. They have 150L, 200L, 270L and 340L units. I like seeing a 150L unit as that’s often a good size for one or two people in the home.

Quantum claims to have over 30 years of heat pump product development. From their website:

The origins of Quantum go back to the mid 1970’s when extensive research work was undertaken by the University of Melbourne in the development of heat pump technology for the production of hot water.

According to this website, Michael Siddons developed the Quantum unit, Australia’s first air sourced heat pump hot water unit. Michael Siddons now heads up Ecogenica, so I’m not sure what happened along the journey.

As much as I love the look of the Quantum units (the silver logo on the units looks pretty swish), the Quantum heat pumps receive terrible reviews, about the worst on the market, receiving 2.4 stars from 74 reviews.
